Finding credit

PAYG credit can be included on the mTrak website and texts from the mTrak units if the unit can find the credit from the mobile network

The mTrak units can find the credit in one of two ways, either by short code or by text.

The credit is checked by the mTrak units every 8 hours

Short code

The mTrak units can find the credit with a short code that usually ends in "#"

Networks that support this include:-

  • Vodafone (code *#1345#)
  • Lebara Mobile (code *#1345#)

To configure the mTrak unit to use a short code, the short code is included in the Network text;

Text message

The mTrak units can also find the credit by sending a text message and receiving a reply from the network.

This feature is available on firmware version 3.615 onwards. Firmware versions 3.500 onwards can be updated remotely.

Networks that support finding the credit by text include:-

  • O2
  • giffgaff

To find the credit by text, the details are entered on the Online settings page.

There are three settings needed:-

  • Message to text to find remaining credit.
  • The number that the message is sent to.
  • Number or name that the reply comes from.

For O2 a text saying "Balance" is sent to 20202, and the reply comes from "O2UK"

For giffgaff a text saying "info" is sent to 85075, and the reply comes from "giffgaff"

Other method

If you can't find the credit like this, you should register the SIM with the network website, so that you can see the credit there. Although the mTrak will work without knowing the credit, it is very difficult to know when to top up if you don't know the credit.
