mTrak units with firmware version 3.500 or higher can be remotely updated to benefit from new features.

In particular, version 3.615, released in April 2026, allows mTrak units with PAYG SIMs to find their credit by text.

Updating is started by texting "mtrakbootload" followed by the IMEI

The IMEI of the unit can be found on the diagnostic page.

Once the text has been received, updating usually takes about 10 minutes. After that, the new version number can be seen on the diagnostic page.

Units with firmware version between 3.200 and 3.500 can be updated but they will need returning to mTrak for updating. After that, remote updating will be possible.
